Why This Workbook Works
This workbook has been created using the same approach I use in sessions with children and teens.
As a Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist, I work with children who feel overwhelmed, overthink, or struggle to stay calm in difficult moments. A big part of that work is helping them understand what is happening in their mind and body, and giving them simple ways to respond differently.
This workbook brings those same principles into a format your child can use at home.
It is based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), helping children understand how their thoughts, feelings, and reactions are connected, and how to gently change unhelpful patterns.
The focus isn’t on “getting it perfect”, but on building awareness, confidence, and small changes over time that make a real difference.
Used in my work with children and families to build calm, confidence, and control.
Why This Works for Children (When Other Things Don’t)
Many children are told to “just calm down” or “stop worrying” — but they are never shown how.
If you’ve tried talking things through, reassuring your child, or encouraging them to “think positively”… but it hasn’t really stuck, you’re not alone.
This workbook takes a different approach.
Instead of trying to stop thoughts or feelings, it helps your child understand what is happening in their brain and body, so those feelings become less overwhelming.
When a child understands what’s happening, they feel safer.
When they feel safer, they can respond differently.
The tools in this workbook are simple, practical, and designed for real-life moments — not perfect situations.
That’s why children are more likely to actually use them.
What Parents Often Notice
After using this workbook, parents often notice:
- their child starts to pause instead of reacting straight away
- fewer emotional outbursts or overwhelm moments
- more understanding of their thoughts and feelings
- small but important boosts in confidence
Small changes like these build quickly over time.
