Book Teen Anxiety & Gut-Brain Programme™Why Teenagers Struggle With Gut Issues + Anxiety
For many teens, anxiety does not only show up as worry. It can show up physically, through the stomach, bowel, nausea, urgency, headaches or feeling unwell when pressure builds.
For some families, mornings become particularly difficult and school attendance starts to suffer. For others, symptoms affect sport, eating out, travel, friendships or simply feeling confident leaving the house.
This can look like:
✓ Morning nausea or stomach pain
✓ IBS flare-ups, urgency or frequent toilet trips
✓ Missing school or struggling to get through the school day
✓ Worry about being away from a toilet
✓ Avoiding food before school, travel or social situations
✓ Anxiety before sport, exams, performances or important events
✓ Overthinking, perfectionism or constantly anticipating what might go wrong
✓ Symptoms improving at weekends or during holidays, then returning when pressure builds
The gut and brain communicate constantly. When anxiety, anticipation and physical symptoms begin feeding into one another, a cycle can develop where the fear of symptoms starts triggering more symptoms.
The programme works with both sides of that cycle - helping your teen feel calmer in their mind, more settled in their body and more confident getting back to everyday life.
The 3-Step Teen Anxiety & Gut-Brain Process™
Understand What’s Driving the Symptoms
We start by identifying your teen’s individual pattern - what triggers the anxiety or gut symptoms, when they are most likely to appear, and how their thoughts, body and behaviour are reacting.
Calm and Retrain the Gut-Brain Response
Using CBT, hypnotherapy and practical gut-brain strategies, we work on reducing the alarm response around symptoms and helping the body respond more calmly to stress, pressure and everyday situations.
Rebuild Confidence in Everyday Life
As symptoms begin to feel more manageable, we focus on helping your teen get back to the things anxiety or gut symptoms may have interrupted - including school, sport, social situations, travel and everyday independence.
The goal is not simply fewer symptoms.
It is helping your teen feel safer in their body, more confident in themselves, and less controlled by anxiety or gut issues.
How We Work Together
How the Teen Programme Works
The Teen Anxiety & Gut-Brain Programme is delivered over approximately 30 days, with 5 structured sessions designed to build consistency and momentum.
Across the programme, we work on calming the gut-brain response, reducing anxiety and physical symptoms, changing unhelpful patterns, and building confidence in everyday situations.
Each session is tailored to your teenager’s individual needs, whether they are struggling with anxiety, overthinking, nausea, stomach symptoms, urgency, confidence, school pressure or performance-related stress.
By the final session, we review progress and make sure your teenager has a clear set of tools and strategies they can continue using independently.
Online & Parent Involvement
Sessions are available online or in person in Market Harborough, Northampton or Leicester.
Parents are included where helpful, with feedback and guidance provided while still giving teenagers appropriate privacy and space to build confidence independently.
Important Information
This programme complements appropriate medical care and does not replace it.

The programme may help with:
✓ IBS, stomach pain, nausea or urgency
✓ Anxiety, overthinking and feeling constantly on edge
✓ Missing school or struggling with difficult mornings
✓ Worry about symptoms happening away from home
✓ Social situations, eating out or travelling
✓ School, exams, sport or performance pressure
✓ Avoidance because they do not trust how their body will react
✓ Low confidence after dealing with symptoms for a long time
The work is practical and personalised, helping your teen understand what is happening in their body, reduce the patterns keeping anxiety and gut symptoms going, and build skills they can use in real life, not just during sessions.
What Is Gut-Directed Hypnotherapy?
Gut-directed hypnotherapy is a specialist approach designed to work with the communication between the gut, brain and nervous system.
For teens, it can be particularly helpful when anxiety and gut symptoms have started feeding into one another - such as nausea, stomach pain, urgency, IBS flare-ups or worrying about symptoms happening when they are away from home.
Using guided hypnosis alongside CBT and practical gut-brain strategies, we work on helping the body respond more calmly, reducing the alarm around gut sensations and changing learned patterns that may be keeping symptoms going.
Your teen remains fully aware and in control throughout. It is calm, comfortable and similar to focused guided relaxation, there is no loss of control and it is nothing like stage hypnosis.
The aim is to help their gut feel less reactive and their body feel safer, so they can get back to everyday life with more confidence.
What Improvement Often Looks Like
Every teen responds differently, but across the programme parents and teens may begin to notice changes such as:
✓ Calmer, more manageable mornings
✓ Less nausea, stomach pain or urgency
✓ Fewer anxiety spikes around school, travel or social situations
✓ Greater confidence leaving the house and being away from home
✓ Less checking, worrying or anticipating symptoms
✓ More confidence around food and everyday routines
✓ Better ability to manage difficult days without everything escalating
✓ Feeling more like themselves again
The goal is not perfection. It is helping your teen feel more confident, more independent and less controlled by anxiety or gut symptoms.

Kym helped me sort out the problems with my stomach and the anxiety I used to feel every day. I don’t get those issues before school anymore, and now I only need to get up 30 minutes before I leave instead of two hours.
