Help Your Child Calm Their Stomach, Ease Anxiety-Related Symptoms, and Feel in Control Again
A personalised one-to-one program for children and teens struggling with IBS, morning nausea, school-related stomach pain, and anxiety.
Every session is tailored to your child’s gut patterns, triggers, and school pressures.
No two children are the same - and their program won’t be either.
Start The Teen Gut–Mind Program™Why Children & Teens Struggle With Gut Issues + Anxiety
Many parents tell me mornings have become the hardest part of the day.
Teen gut symptoms are rarely “just a stomach problem.” They usually develop from a gut–mind stress loop - where the nervous system reacts first, and the gut follows.
Anxiety can show up in the gut, the body, or daily school stress. This program supports both the physical symptoms and the anxiety driving them.
This can look like:
-
Morning nausea or stomach pain
-
IBS flares on school days
-
Bathroom worries
-
Fear of eating before school
-
Meal avoidance
-
Headaches linked to anxiety
-
Overthinking or perfectionism
-
Symptoms easing on weekends or holidays
This doesn’t mean something is wrong with your child.
It means their gut–brain system needs calm, support, and retraining.
When the nervous system is overwhelmed, the gut becomes more sensitive and reactive - especially in the mornings or during periods of pressure. Over time, this can turn into a repeating pattern that feels hard to break.
I work with preteens and teenagers (typically 10+) to gently retrain this gut–brain communication so their body feels safer, steadier, and more predictable again. I also work with younger children where appropriate, adapting the approach to their age and development.
Leading paediatric gastroenterology bodies now recommend gut-directed hypnotherapy and CBT as first-line, evidence-based treatments for IBS and functional abdominal pain in children and teens. These approaches are safe, gentle, and highly effective - helping ease symptoms while building lifelong stress regulation skills.
Why Early Support Matters
During adolescence, stress responses and gut sensitivity patterns are still developing. When young people learn structured nervous system regulation skills early, we reduce the risk of long-term stress-gut cycles becoming entrenched in adulthood.
This is not just symptom management - it is skill-building for life.
Introducing: The Teen Gut–Mind Program™
A supportive, evidence-based program combining CBT, gut-directed hypnotherapy, and nervous-system tools to help teens:
- calm their stomach
- reduce anxiety
- ease morning symptoms
- feel more confident
- handle school stress without physical reactions
Why Young People Need a Different Approach Than Adults
Children and teenagers are not small adults - their gut, nervous system, hormones, and cognitive patterns are more sensitive and more reactive.
This is why adult IBS approaches often don’t work for teens.
They need:
• gentler, shorter techniques by trained practitioner
• age-appropriate CBT adapted to their thinking style
• gut–mind tools they can use at school or in the mornings
Your child won’t be pushed, rushed, or overwhelmed - everything is adapted to their pace and comfort.
Imagine your teen learning, from a young age, how to understand and regulate their nervous system.
Those skills don’t just calm symptoms now - they make school, friendships, exams, and future challenges far easier to navigate.
The 3-Step Teen Gut–Mind Process™
Soothe the Gut–Brain Stress Loop
At the start, we work together to make sense of what’s happening in their body - what triggers symptoms and why the gut reacts the way it does.
As the nervous system begins to calm, the gut becomes less reactive to worries, thoughts, and everyday school pressures.
Retrain Their Gut’s Responses
Once we understand what’s driving your teen’s symptoms, we gently retrain how their gut responds to triggers such as mornings, food, pressure, or anxiety spikes.
Using simple, repeatable techniques, the nervous system learns that these situations are safe - helping the gut settle more quickly and react less intensely over time.
Build Everyday Confidence
As the gut–brain system becomes calmer and more predictable, confidence naturally starts to return.
We strengthen emotional regulation, reduce overthinking, and help your teen feel safer and more grounded - at school, at home, and in new or challenging situations..
What’s Included in the Teen Gut–Mind Program™
Designed to help your child feel calmer, more confident, and more in control - week by week.
We begin with a 4-session foundation phase, giving your teen time to learn tools, practise between sessions, and allow the gut–mind response to begin settling.

How We Work Together
How Many Sessions Will My Teen Need?
Most teens benefit from 8–12 sessions to fully stabilise symptoms and build lasting confidence around food, school, travel, and social situations.
The program begins with a 4-session foundation phase, designed to:
-
Reduce immediate symptom intensity
-
Teach core nervous system regulation tools
-
Identify triggers and patterns
-
Begin rebuilding confidence
After these first sessions, we review progress together and decide whether continuing toward an 8–12 session pathway would be helpful.
Some teens need fewer.
Some benefit from ongoing support.
The goal is steady, sustainable change - not just short-term relief.
Online & Parent Involvement
Sessions are delivered online via secure link, or in person at my Market Harborough clinic (Tuesday afternoons and Saturday mornings).
Parents are welcome to join the first few minutes of each session. Many teens work best with some private therapeutic space, but you will always be included in the process.
You’ll also receive clear guidance on how to support your teen at home - without adding pressure or reassurance cycles.

What Is Gut-Directed Hypnotherapy?
Gut-directed hypnotherapy is an evidence-based approach shown in clinical studies to reduce IBS symptoms, calm the digestive system, and retrain the gut–brain connection.
Unlike traditional hypnosis, this approach uses guided imagery, CBT principles, and nervous-system regulation techniques to help the gut respond more calmly to stress, food, mornings, and school pressure.
Your teen remains fully aware and in control throughout. Sessions feel calm, safe, and similar to guided relaxation - not stage hypnosis.
Gut-directed hypnotherapy is supported by over 30 years of research and is recommended in clinical guidelines for IBS and functional gut disorders.
What Improvement Often Looks Like
Calmer, more predictable mornings
Less stomach pain or nausea before school
Reduced anxiety spikes
Growing confidence at school and socially
Better sleep
More predictable digestion
Feeling like themselves again
Fewer urgent bathroom trips
Client Testimonials
JH - Teen Gut Issues & Anxiety
Kym helped me sort out the problems with my stomach and the anxiety I used to feel every day. I don’t get those issues before school anymore, and now I only need to get up 30 minutes before I leave instead of two hours.
PC - Parent of Teen Gut Issues
The program with Kym has helped our family so much. My son can finally trust his body again - we can all leave the house without worrying about stomach pain, bathroom anxiety, or what he will be able to eat. The change has been incredible, and it’s honestly given us our mornings and our life back.
