There can come a point in midlife where you know there is more for you, but you do not yet know what that looks like.

From the outside, life may look fine. You may be caring for your family, supporting your husband, children, work or home, and being the capable one who keeps everything going. But inside, you may feel anxious, guilty, emotionally exhausted or disconnected from yourself.

You may feel as though you have spent years adjusting around everyone else’s needs, expectations and responsibilities. And now, even though you care deeply about the people in your life, part of you is beginning to wonder where you fit within it all.

The Life That Fits Pathway is a one-to-one therapy programme for women over 40 and in midlife who feel anxious, guilty, overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted or not quite like themselves anymore.

Using CBT, hypnotherapy, self-compassion and gentle nervous system support, we work together to understand the patterns that have been keeping you stuck, calm the worry and pressure, rebuild trust in yourself, and begin finding The Life That Fits.

This is not about pretending everything is fine or forcing yourself to be positive. It is about gently understanding what has been happening, reducing the guilt and worry, reconnecting with your needs, and creating space for a life that feels more honest, meaningful and yours.

At the heart of this work is one important question:

If the pressure, guilt, fear, symptoms or old expectations were no longer leading your choices, what would your life begin to look like?

Not the life you have adjusted yourself around.

Not the life shaped by over-responsibility, worry, people-pleasing or always putting yourself last.

But the life where you finally understand what has been missing.

Where the guilt, restlessness and disconnection stop feeling like personal failures, and start becoming clues that something in you is ready for a different way of living.

A life where you stop trying to fit into a version of yourself that may never have truly fitted, and begin recognising the part of you that has been waiting to be heard, chosen and lived.

For the life you once dreamed of, the one you stopped reaching for, but never really stopped wanting.

That is the heart of The Life That Fits Pathway.

What we work on

Together, we look beyond the surface of the guilt, worry, body fear, self-criticism and over-responsibility, and begin exploring what you really want now.

Sometimes anxiety, restlessness, exhaustion or feeling disconnected are not signs that you are failing. They can be clues that something in your life no longer fits, or perhaps never fully did. In this work, we gently follow those clues together. We look at what has been pushed down, what keeps calling your attention, what you may have outgrown, and what part of you is trying to come forward.

Sessions may include CBT, hypnotherapy, self-compassion work, calming tools, guided therapeutic exercises and practical planning. But the deeper focus is on helping you understand yourself more clearly, reconnect with what matters, and begin making choices that feel more honest, alive and yours.

This is not just about coping better. It is about finding what has been missing and beginning to move towards The Life That Fits.

The Life That Fits Pathway: A 6-Session Core Programme

This pathway is usually offered as a six-session one-to-one programme, giving us time to understand what has been happening, work with the patterns keeping you stuck, and begin uncovering what you truly want now.

Some women may feel clear after the six sessions. Others may choose to continue with further sessions if they would like more support with anxiety, body fear, boundaries, confidence, life direction or deeper personal change.

Session 1: Why Life No Longer Feels Like Yours

We begin by gently mapping what has been happening beneath the surface. This may include anxiety, guilt, emotional pressure, body symptoms, health worry, family roles, over-responsibility and the feeling that something in your life is asking to change. We also begin exploring what you would like to feel different, not just in your symptoms, but in your life.

Session 2: Listening to the Body Without Fear

We look at how worry, stress and emotional pressure can affect the body, and begin rebuilding a calmer, more trusting relationship with physical sensations. Rather than seeing the body as something to fear or fight, we begin to explore what it may be trying to show you.

Session 3: Caring Without Disappearing

We explore the difference between caring deeply and carrying everything. This session looks at responsibility, guilt, people-pleasing, family patterns and the pressure to keep everyone else okay, while slowly beginning to recognise where you may have lost sight of yourself.

Session 4: The Voice You Live With

We work with the inner voice, self-criticism, shame, guilt and self-pressure. This is about noticing the way you speak to yourself, understanding where those patterns may have come from, and beginning to build a more honest, supportive and powerful relationship with yourself.

Session 5: What Is Trying to Come Forward

This is where we begin looking more deeply at what you really want now. We explore the clues: what keeps pulling at you, what you may have outgrown, what lights something up in you, what you feel called towards, and what part of you has been waiting to be heard, chosen and lived.

Session 6: The Life That Fits

We bring the work together into a practical and meaningful next chapter plan. This may include tools for worry, guilt, body confidence, boundaries, self-trust and emotional pressure, as well as clear next steps towards a life that feels more honest, aligned and yours.

The aim is not simply to cope better. It is to understand what has been missing, recognise what is ready to change, and begin moving towards The Life That Fits.
