When Staff Are Absent, Struggling or Not Functioning at Their Best

Stress, anxiety and gut-related symptoms can affect work long before someone reaches crisis point.

For some staff, this may show up as repeated absence, difficulty returning after time off, reduced confidence, poor focus, avoidance of meetings or travel, digestive symptoms, panic, poor sleep or feeling unable to cope with normal working demands.

This support is designed to help employees understand what is happening, steady their response and move back towards normal daily function.

A Practical Back-to-Function Approach

This is not a general wellbeing talk.

It is structured support for staff whose stress, anxiety, overthinking or gut-related symptoms are affecting attendance, performance, confidence or return-to-work capacity.

The focus is on helping employees:

  • Understand what is happening in their mind and body
  • Calm stress and anxiety responses
  • Reduce overthinking and panic spirals
  • Respond differently to physical symptoms
  • Rebuild confidence in work situations
  • Use practical tools during the working day
  • Support a steadier return to normal function
  • Reduce the risk of ongoing stress-related disruption

Two Core Areas of Support

Stress, Anxiety and Overthinking at Work

For staff struggling with worry, pressure, panic, mental overload, poor sleep, burnout symptoms, difficulty switching off, reduced confidence or stress-related absence.

Support focuses on calming the stress response, reducing thought spirals, improving emotional regulation and helping staff feel more able to manage the working day.

Gut Health, IBS and Stress-Related Digestive Symptoms

For staff affected by IBS, urgency, bloating, nausea, gut anxiety, flare-ups or digestive symptoms that worsen with stress and interfere with attendance, travel, meetings or normal work routines.

Support focuses on the gut-brain connection, stress-related symptom cycles and practical tools to reduce disruption and improve daily function.

Ways to Work Together

1. Staff Course Access

Flexible online course access for employees to work through in their own time.

Courses can include short teaching videos, slide-based lessons, worksheets, diagrams, guided audio support and practical tools staff can use during the working day.

Suitable for organisations that want accessible support for staff who are struggling, returning after absence or needing early support before problems escalate.

2. Workplace Workshops

Live workshops delivered online or in person.

These can be offered as a 60-minute session, half-day workshop or tailored training session depending on your organisation’s needs.

Topics can include stress-related absence, anxiety at work, overthinking, stress regulation, gut health, IBS awareness and practical back-to-function tools.

3. Confidential One-to-One Staff Support

Individual support for staff who need more targeted help.

This may be suitable for employees struggling with anxiety, panic, overthinking, IBS, gut anxiety, stress-related digestive symptoms, repeated absence or difficulty returning to normal work function after stress-related disruption.

Sessions are available online or in person at my Market Harborough clinic.

4. Ongoing Workplace Support

For organisations that want more consistent support, this can include ongoing course access, regular workshops, staff wellbeing sessions, Q&A sessions or retained support options.

This can be shaped around your team, absence patterns, workplace pressures and the level of support needed.

Designed to Work Alongside Existing Support

This support can be used as a stand-alone workplace option or alongside HR, occupational health, EAP or existing wellbeing provision.

It gives staff practical tools they can use in the moment, while helping them rebuild confidence, reduce stress-related disruption and move back towards steadier working function over time.

About Kym

I’m Kym Hall, a Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist specialising in anxiety, stress, IBS and gut-directed hypnotherapy.

Before moving into therapy, I spent years in business, including corporate franchise ownership and working within council and large-scale workplace environments. This gives me a practical understanding of workplace pressure, staff performance and the importance of support that is clear, usable and relevant to real working life.

My approach is structured, evidence-informed and focused on helping people understand the patterns behind stress, anxiety and gut-related symptoms, while giving them tools they can use in real situations.

I work with clients in person and online worldwide.
